Job description

Position Overview
The Non-CDL Driver supports Binswanger Glass field and warehouse operations by delivering materials, tools, and supplies to job sites using company vans or light trucks. This role is integral to keeping field crews supplied and operational, requiring reliable driving, a strong work ethic, and the willingness to assist with loading, unloading, and general warehouse support tasks. The Non-CDL Driver is a key link between the Binswanger Glass warehouse and the field teams that serve our clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drives company vans or light trucks to deliver materials, tools, and supplies to assigned job sites on a daily basis.
  • Assists with loading materials at the warehouse and unloading at job sites using safe manual handling techniques.
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintains accurate vehicle mileage and delivery logs.
  • Coordinates delivery routes and schedules with dispatch, warehouse staff, and job site contacts.
  • Handles materials carefully to minimize damage during transport, with particular attention to glass and fragile items.
  • Returns unused materials, tools, and equipment from job sites to the warehouse as directed.
  • Keeps company vehicle clean, fueled, and in good working condition; reports maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assists with warehouse operations including receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, and maintaining inventory organization.
  • Obtains delivery confirmations and signatures from authorized job site personnel.
  • Communicates proactively with management regarding delivery status, delays, or any vehicle or route issues.
  • Maintains all required driver documentation and adheres to all applicable traffic and company driving policies.
Scope of Work Verticals
This role operates across Binswanger Glass's three core service verticals. The scope and emphasis of work may vary by branch, region, or assignment:
RESIDENTIAL
Delivers materials, glass, and supplies to residential service call sites and technician staging locations. Supports residential branch operations by ensuring field crews have what they need for daily service routes.
COMMERCIAL SERVICE
Supports commercial service branch operations with material deliveries to storefront and commercial service locations. Assists with material staging and restocking for commercial service technicians.
CONTRACT COMMERCIAL
Assists with material transport and delivery to commercial contract job sites. Coordinates with foremen and warehouse staff to stage materials needed for contract glazing installation work.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of driving and delivery experience preferred. Warehouse or materials handling experience is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record required
  • Basic knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices
  • Ability to plan and navigate efficient delivery routes across a service area
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility for on-time delivery performance
  • Effective communication with warehouse staff, dispatchers, and field crews
  • Ability to accurately maintain vehicle logs and delivery documentation
  • Team-oriented attitude with willingness to assist with warehouse duties as needed
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 75 lbs regularly. Ability to load and unload materials from vans and light trucks. Must be able to stand, bend, and perform manual labor tasks during warehouse and delivery duties. Ability to sit and drive for extended periods throughout the workday.
Preferred:
Clean MVR with no major violations in the past 3 years required. Familiarity with glass handling and transport procedures. Forklift certification or experience operating pallet jacks beneficial. Knowledge of local service area roads and job site locations.
