Job description

As a Construction Estimator with Dynamic Glazing Systems, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, contributing to the success of our projects through accurate and detailed cost estimations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction estimating, particularly in glazing projects.
Responsibilities:

1. Project Analysis: Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, structural drawings, shop drawings, installation requirements, and architectural intent
2. Estimation: Conduct take-offs, prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial windows, doors, storefronts, curtain walls, railings, office partitions, and other glass and aluminum solutions. Estimates must consider material costs, labor, equipment, OH&P, and any other related costs.
3. Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and requirements.
4. Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes for materials and services.
5. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges in projects and provide recommendation(s) for risk mitigation.
6. Communication: Effectively communicate with project managers, architects, clients, and internal teams to gather information and clarify project details. Establishes and nurtures relationships with industry professionals, manufacturers, general contractors, subcontractors, and public agencies in an ultimate effort to promote company revenue growth.
7. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and construction methodologies to provide accurate and up-to-date estimates.
Qualifications:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably a focus on glass and glazing projects
- Proficient at understanding and translating construction plans, drawings, and specifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office as well as computer take off and estimating programs
- Familiarity with construction estimating software
- AutoCAD / GDS / Buildertrend / GlassManager knowledge is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred
- Leadership skills, time management, math, budgeting, and analytical skills
- Excellent writing, grammar, and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Aptitude organizational skills including keen attention to detail to maintain our service quality
- Excellent client-facing, internal communication, negotiation, creative problem solving, and relationship skills
- Effective ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and manage resources efficiently
- Professional, courteous, and effective disposition for nurturing business development, customer, supplier, team, and other business relationships
