What is a glacier?

Glaciers are large, persistent bodies of dense ice that form over many years from accumulated snowfall and move slowly over land due to their own weight. They are found in polar regions and high mountains, playing a crucial role in shaping landscapes through erosion and deposition. Glaciers are also important indicators of climate change, as their size and movement patterns respond to temperature and precipitation changes. In addition, they serve as significant freshwater reservoirs for many regions around the world.

What are some common challenges faced by glaciologists during fieldwork on glaciers?

Glaciologists often encounter challenging conditions during fieldwork, such as extreme cold, unpredictable weather, and difficult terrain that can make travel and equipment transport demanding. Safety is a major concern, with risks including crevasses and avalanches, so team members must be well-trained in safety protocols and use specialized gear. Collaboration is also key, as projects typically involve working closely with other scientists, technicians, and sometimes local guides to collect and analyze data on-site. Effective communication and adaptability are essential for overcoming logistical obstacles and ensuring research goals are met.

Job description

Glacier Roofing & Exteriors helps clients recover from storm damage and upgrade their homes and businesses with a new roof or exterior. We're growing fast, and we're hiring a Sales Estimator who can keep up.

This role is built for someone who wants to earn what they're worth in a lucrative, recession-proof industry through relationship-based and door-to-door direct sales — and who thrives under pressure. If you need a slow, predictable pace to do your best work, this isn't the role for you. We move fast, our pipeline moves fast and we need someone who moves with it.

What You'll Do

  • Engage prospective clients, size up their needs fast, and deliver tailored solutions
  • Run product presentations and demos that close
  • Coordinate with operations to keep projects moving during and after the sale
  • Build and maintain trust with industry partners, referral sources, and the communities we serve
  • Track activity and manage your pipeline daily in our cloud-based system — no excuses, no lag
  • Self-generate business across multiple direct-selling channels, door-to-door included; this is not a lead-fed, wait-around role

What We Look For

  • Direct sales, direct marketing, or B2B sales experience — required
  • Roofing or home exteriors experience is a plus, not a requirement
  • A self-directed, competitive, performance-driven mindset — you set your own pace and it's fast
  • Strong communicator who can work solo and as part of a team
  • Comfortable with technology and daily CRM use
  • Able to run projects independently from first contact through completion, without hand-holding
  • Genuine comfort operating in a high-pressure, high-volume, fast-paced environment. If that sounds stressful rather than energizing, please don't apply.

What We Offer

  • Salary + commission structure
  • Uncapped earning power — you control your income
  • Company truck and fuel card
  • Healthcare benefits available at 90 days
  • High-energy, fast-paced team culture
  • Ongoing training, mentorship, and direct access to senior leadership

Benefits

  • Join a winning team
  • Career growth and advancement opportunities
  • Sales trips and team events
  • Bonuses and sales contests
  • Flexible schedule
