Job description

Position Summary:

As a Process Engineer Intern at Amphenol Industrial Operations, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting our manufacturing and assembly processes for innovative industrial products. Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll learn how to apply engineering principles to real-world challenges, document and improve processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-technology environment. This internship is designed to give you exposure to sustaining engineering activities, new product introductions, and continuous improvement efforts.

Hours: Flexible (10-40 hours per week)

Pay: $21/hour


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As an intern you may be involved in:

  • Assisting with documentation of manufacturing processes for components, connectors, cable assemblies, and harnesses
  • Learning core product knowledge from Process Engineers
  • Supporting documentation compliance with Quality System requirements, including helping with process validation
  • Creating and maintaining accurate work instructions under supervision for new product introductions (NPIs)
  • Collaborating with engineering services and internal teams to support departmental goals
  • Observing and assisting in NPI builds for connectors, cable assemblies, or harnesses
  • Conducting time studies and supporting the evaluation of time standards with Manufacturing and Assembly teams
  • Contributing to project teams by supporting various design and process engineering tasks
  • Developing organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills in a professional engineering setting
  • Performs basic maintenance and assists with troubleshooting equipment

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related discipline)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a collaborative environment

Preferred:

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments (through coursework, labs, or previous internships)
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD software
  • Interest in hi-mix/low-volume manufacturing
