Job Title: GIS Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented GIS Analyst to join our team in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will develop a comprehensive understanding of current data states, workflows, and business processes to design and implement effective GIS solutions, integrations, transformations, and deliverables.

This role is responsible for GIS data analysis, data mining, technical support, database maintenance, quality assurance, and process improvement initiatives. The GIS Analyst will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to solve complex business challenges, optimize geospatial workflows, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of enterprise GIS data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced GIS analysis, modeling, and database design activities.
  • Develop and maintain GIS datasets from spatial and tabular data sources.
  • Process, prepare, convert, migrate, and maintain data across GIS platforms.
  • Conduct data mining activities to meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Create specialized maps, reports, and geospatial products for business users.
  • Analyze existing business processes and recommend best-practice GIS solutions.
  • Perform QA/QC on versioned data prior to deployment into production environments.
  • Support application testing activities and document defects, enhancements, and resolutions.
  • Collaborate with end users to gather requirements and document requested changes.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging GIS technologies, processes, and applications to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automated workflows using Model Builder, Python scripting, and other automation tools.
  • Provide technical support for GIS applications and related systems.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with established GIS data standards and governance practices.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Option 1

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography (GIS), Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional GIS experience.

Option 2

  • GIS Certificate with a minimum of 3 years of relevant GIS work experience in lieu of a related degree.

Preferred Experience

  • 1+ years of GIS experience within the utility, energy, or pipeline industry.
  • Experience working with linear assets and utility network datasets.

Preferred Technical Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Linear Referencing Systems (LRS) and associated concepts.
  • Knowledge of the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM).
  • Experience supporting utility, pipeline, or infrastructure-related GIS environments.
