We are seeking a Senior Geographic Information System (GIS) Advisor to join our GIS Services group in Calgary - a technically driven team at the intersection of geospatial intelligence and pipeline operations.

In this role, you will be the go-to expert responsible for the integration, publishing, and reporting of enterprise GIS data, ensuring that spatial information reaches the right stakeholders with accuracy, integrity, and impact. You will work within the GIS Services group, responsible for the integration, publishing, and reporting of integrated GIS data within the UPDM environment and Enterprise systems to various stakeholders across the organization using GIS technologies.

You will bring deep technical expertise and strategic thinking to a safety-sensitive role that directly supports pipeline integrity, business development, and operational excellence. What You Will Do:

  • Perform a range of technical and support functions for the day-to-day maintenance of Enbridge's enterprise GIS, applying a strong conceptual and practical understanding of spatial and pipeline database design - including relational database design, spatial data integration, GIS application software development, data automation procedures, and quality assurance.

  • Perform custom coding utilizing Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), Structured Query Language (SQL), and/or Python, applying a thorough understanding of the UPDM data model to deliver geospatial automation and integration solutions.

  • Apply expert analysis skills using advanced GIS software and related products - including advanced spatial and data analysis tools, raster image transformation, thematic mapping, and trend analysis - in both project and operational environments.

  • Liaise with other departments and field operations personnel, providing GIS-related technical and tactical support, and prepare, review, and complete a variety of regulatory mandated data submissions.

  • Draft a variety of technical documents including standard operating procedures and requests for bid, and work with Information Technology (IT) and business partners to implement new GIS solutions with a thorough understanding of both IT and natural gas pipeline key business processes.

Who You Are:

  • Technologist diploma in a Geography or an Information Technology-related field.

  • 8 or more years of directly relevant GIS experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with business owners.

  • Perform complex tasks utilizing FME, SQL, Python, or other geospatial automation technologies.

  • Extensive knowledge of general maps, United States Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangle maps, aerial photography, satellite imagery, and lidar; strong skills in Microsoft Office and the latest Windows operating systems is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of Esri's GIS suite of products, including strong skills in Esri's Enterprise Portal and Enterprise applications development; pipeline industry experience with an understanding of the UPDM data model is beneficial.

  • Proficiency in FME and Python for automating geoprocesses and creating standardized maps; in-depth knowledge of SQL for accessing and manipulating databases; familiarity with supplemental GIS tools such as GPS software (Trimble and/or Garmin) and Alignment Sheet Generation is an asset.
