Job description

Position Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Architecture team and play a key role in establishing our firm’s first in-house MEP practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions from concept through production.
Essential Functions:
• Design mechanical systems, components, and products using CAD software
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs
• Develop and test prototypes, evaluate performance, and implement design improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and architects
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and specifications
• Participate in lifecycle management, including concept development, prototyping, production, and support
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and codes
• Troubleshoot issues related to design, manufacturing, or product performance
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product design and engineering processes
Required Traits amp; Characteristics:
• Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools, BIM experience preferred
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements
Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10-15+ years of experience in mechanical design
• Professional Engineering (PE) license
Travel:
• Position based in Royal Oak or Southgate, Michigan
• Travel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings will be required
