Reports to: Supervisor - GIS Operations
Location: In Office, Rochester NY

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from:

Job Summary

This is a hybrid or in office position, not fully remote. Demonstrates complete proficiency in the updating/maintenance of the electric and/or gas infrastructure using prescribed processes and procedures, as well as, able to perform analysis of the company's Geographic Information System's (GIS) data and processes. Able to demonstrate a practical knowledge of the gas and the electric systems as well as a working knowledge of engineering and construction policies and procedures. Possesses the ability to identify potential problems and developing and implementing solutions that meet or exceed customer needs. Develops and maintains geospatial data and data repository. Provides training/mentoring to Analysts within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs updates to the gas and/or electric Distribution and Transmission GIS models while ensuring compliance with the Asset Rules and company Operating Procedures.

  • Verifies the accuracy of the SAP Master Data records and the work sketches received and initiates the resolution of discrepancies between SAP and the Work Sketches that are received, secures additional information from various departments to ensure accuracy of the GIS data.

  • Performs quality control checks of the GIS models.

  • Proficient with certain practices and procedures of other departments with regard to how they affect and relate to the GIS models.

  • Provides oversight of other GIS Operations personnel and Contractors to ensure that the work is completed in the most professional, efficient, and accurate manner. May involve application and process training for new employees or contractors.

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in CADD/GIS related field, or 5 years of work experience with concentration in GIS data analysis and editing, or 3 - 5 years working as an Avangrid GIS Analyst.

  • Skills/Abilities:

    • Demonstrated excellence in available CAD and GIS systems.

    • Able to train others in GIS topics.

    • Able to work independently and demonstrate complete proficiency in analyzing and implementing GIS solutions.
