Job description

Job Title: ArcGIS Platform Engineer/Administrator

Location: Houston, TX (4 days onsite)

Job type: Fulltime

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online environments.
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance of GIS infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and availability; implement proactive measures to ensure uptime.
  • Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls in accordance with security policies.
  • Automate administrative tasks using Python, PowerShell, or other scripting tools.
  • Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers, and IT teams to support application deployment and integration.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and backup strategies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise and related components.
  • Strong understanding of GIS architecture, web services, and server configurations.
  • Experience with patch management, monitoring tools, and automation scripting.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and hybrid infrastructure.

Preferred:

  • Experience with federated ArcGIS environments and load balancing.
  • Exposure to ServiceNow, JIRA, or other ITSM tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive them to resolution.
