POSITION TITLE: GIS Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Estimating & Project Management

LOCATION: Deepwater, New Jersey

SALARY RANGE: $25 to $40 per hour

JOB NUMBER: 2026-G353-01

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor (#3 in ENR in 2026) is looking for a GIS Specialist to support operations onsite in Deepwater, New Jersey. This position will require a general understanding of GPS hardware (GNSS Receivers, Base Stations, Rovers) and GIS software (QGIS and ArcGIS). Travel will be required.

Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc. has been in business for over 100 years, entering the environmental remediation market sector in 1979 performing the remediation at the first Superfund site ever - Love Canal. We have a huge program and great backlog of work.

The daily work will include:

  • Use of GPS hardware (GNSS Receivers, Base Stations, Rovers) and GIS software (QGIS and ArcGIS)
  • Tasks which include working with vector and raster data and data processing
  • Support field technicians with data collection

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Science or related field (Geology, Environmental Science, etc.)

  • GIS Software fluency (QGIS and ArcGIS) with field applications (QField, Field Maps, Survey123)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, workflows, and processes/procedures
  • Ability to learn new software and GIS systems quickly
  • Basic understanding of Python coding within GIS software
  • GPS hardware equipment knowledge (Trimble and others)
  • File maintenance and organizational skills

SALARY/BENEFITS:

An employee's salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications. Extensive company-provided benefit package includes medical, dental, prescription, 401k, profit sharing, and pension.
