Job description

The Guest Experience Cashier is responsible for processing payments for goods and services using a computerbased ticketing system while providing friendly, helpful service to all visitors. This role also assists guests with questions, access needs, and general park information to ensure positive overall experience.

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  2. Operate computer-based ticketing system to record fees from admission and other services.
  3. Provide quality guest service and ensure accurate point of sale transactions.
  4. Organize information for registered groups and individuals picking up tickets.
  5. Provide information to visitors regarding special events or activities and location of animal exhibits.
  6. Accurately verifies tickets for correct type, time, and date, ensuring only authorized guests are admitted to the Zoo and designated exhibits.
  7. Engage guests in a friendly and positive manner.
  8. Provides access control for the giraffe feeding, bird feeding, and contact yard areas as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable guest experience.
  9. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
  10. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
  11. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
  • At least one year of customer service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to uphold the high standards of Cleveland Metroparks by actions, appearance & attitude always and in all places.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the public.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with the ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.

Work Schedule: Flexible work schedule required, must be available weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays. Must be able to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time; some sitting, standing and lifting necessary
