Position Overview: The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) is a hands-on retail leader responsible for driving sales, delivering exception hospitality and client relations, developing the retail team, and ensuring consistent execution across Bonsai Paper Co.'s retail and Gift Wrapping Service operations. Working closely and hands on with leadership, the ASM serves as the leader on duty, owning the client experience during their shifts and helps translate company goals into strong day-to-day execution.


Key Responsibilities:

- Leadership & Team Development:

- Assist in the recruitment and training of new Client Advisors and Gift Wrapping Experts and holding the team accountable to company expectations while maintaining a supportive, professional environment.

- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure team members meet performance standards.

- Lead by example, setting the tone for a positive and professional store environment.

- Serve as the primary manager on duty (MOD) when senior leadership is not present making real-time decisions regarding staffing, client recovery, workflow and operational priorities.

- Communicate shift results, opportunities and follow-up needs to leadership.


- Sales & Profitability:

- Own sales performance and client experience during scheduled shifts.

- Coach the team of Client Advisors and Gift Wrapping Experts on suggestive selling, add-on behaviors and service conversion.

- Monitor daily and weekly KPIs and identify opportunities to improve performance

- Lead execution of promotions, seasonal initiatives, and local sales-driving activities.

- Balance strong client service with labor productivity and operational efficiency.

- Service Excellence:

- Ensure all Client Advisors and Gift Wrapping Experts deliver exceptional client service, maintaining high levels of satisfaction.

- Handle escalated client concerns and ensure prompt resolution using our Decision Logic.

- Maintain a strong floor presence, interacting with clients and providing personalized assistance.


- Operational Efficiency:

- Assist in managing store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management.

- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the buying team for replenishment needs.


- Gift Wrapping Service Operations:

- Become proficient in Bonsai Paper Co.'s Gift Wrapping Service standards and procedures.

- Lead gift wrapping operations during peak periods, including queue management, order accuracy, productivity and team/client communication.

- Coach Client Advisors and Gift Wrapping Experts on quality, speed and service presentation.

- Ensure the Gift Wrapping Service Counter remains organized, stocked, visually polished and ready for business throughout all dayparts.


- Transportation Requirement:

- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between Plano, TX 75024 and Dallas, TX 75225 as needed.


Qualifications:

- Previous retail management or supervisory experience preferred.

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
