Job description

The Hillsboro Club, an exclusive oceanfront private residence club in South Florida, is seeking an experienced Gift Shop Manager for the overall retail operation of the Gift Shop. This position will create merchandising displays to maximize sales and product turnover, provide superior customer service, and observe the club’s safety rules and regulations. We are looking for a candidate with several years of hospitality/private club experience, and the passion to contribute to the continued success of our luxury property.

The Club operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting and ending times, and hours worked in a week.

The Gift Shop Manager position is a full-time, salaried opportunity that includes a competitive salary, health insurance, retirement benefits, and paid time off. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work in a beautiful location and be part of a dynamic and professional team.

General Requirements

  • Answer questions concerning club services.
  • Maintains billing charges of members and guests; submits billing charges to the accounting department in a timely manner.
  • Develops open-to-buy procedures for each category.
  • Promote daily Gift Shop sales and superior customer relations.
  • Plan the promotion of merchandise and markets special events and sales.
  • Develops and maintains shop displays.
  • Monitors the receiving and checking-in of all merchandise.
  • Processes all paperwork and coding on invoices.
  • Coordinates inventory and provide monthly inventory reports.
  • Maintains all inventory SKU controls for all items in inventory and pricing.
  • Monitors procedures for special orders and returns.
  • Signs for and accepts full responsibility for a cash bank to be used for operational needs and cashing member checks.
  • Assist customers with merchandise selections, work at sales counter as necessary.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates gift shop salespersons.
  • Creates and maintains an approved vendor list.
  • Supervises and maintains the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Orders special order merchandise for members.
  • Works closely with the Gate Attendant to alert staff of incoming guests and requests from members.
  • Coordinates shop changeovers for special events and seasons.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Clubhouse Manager.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in hospitality management or related field.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to meet financial targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of club operations and/or hospitality industry experience is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
