About & Impact:

Norwood Crossing is a senior living community located in Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood. Our gift shop works in coordination with the Norwood Life Society Thrift Shop whose mission is to raise funds for Norwood Crossing and its sister organization Norwood Seniors Network. Our volunteers work selflessly to help generate as much revenue as possible with proceeds from the sale of donations.

Hours of Operation: 12 pm to 3 pm Monday - Saturday

  • Note: we're looking for a Wednesday or Friday volunteer from 12 pm to 3 pm

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Stock and display items in appropriate areas of the gift shop
  • Communicate with Director of Volunteer Services when items are running low
  • Assist with pricing donated items if needed
  • Light dusting as needed
  • Respond to routine customer inquiries
  • Maintain and promote positive internal and external relationships with clients, staff and fellow volunteers
  • Understand and respect the boundaries of your assigned position; and perform your duties within those boundaries
  • Demonstrate reliability arriving and leaving as instructed
  • Contact the Director of Volunteer Services if unable to work scheduled time
