Job description

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for effectively serving casino guests, completing tasks as assigned by management, and ensuring that the standard for guest services is met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Ensures that the gift shop is kept exceptionally clean and neat.  
  • Ensures that all merchandise is tagged correctly, put out on display or folded and placed in the storeroom.
  • Ensures that merchandise is properly sized and displayed on the gift shop floor. 
  • Ensures that merchandise in storeroom is put away, organized, and maintained.
  • Accurately prices merchandise.
  • Merchandises new product and ensures that the shop is visually merchandised as per departmental guidelines.
  • Replenishes gift shop display shelves and racks.  
  • Responds to guest complaints and/or inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Held accountable for the thoroughness and accuracy of departmental records under his/her control, including the filling out and completion of comps and transfers of merchandise.
  • Assists in all merchandise being accurately inventoried once a month and ensures that proper inventory control is maintained by his/her staff.
  • Operates point-of-sale terminal for gift shop transactions.
  • Promotes a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction in the department.
  • Performs guest services-related duties, such as assisting guests with merchandise selection and/or purchase and redeeming complimentaries.
  • Assists the Managers, Supervisors, Leads, and Inventory Control team with inventory-related duties as necessary.
  • Monitors the shop on a constant basis for theft and adheres to established departmental guidelines in the event of theft/suspected theft.
  • Maintains a working thorough knowledge of where gift shop merchandise is stored. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of current and upcoming events on property in order to advise guests of same, whenever possible.
  • Adheres to established cash control policies and procedures of the casino.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess effective communication skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.
