The Assistant General Manager coordinates, plans and directs daily operations. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides inspiring leadership and motivates staff to ensure they have every opportunity to achieve job satisfaction and career development
  • Provides coaching to managers on effective performance management and advises in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues
  • Supports department managers; which includes interviewing, hiring, training, directing work and evaluating performance
  • Oversees activities of front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and sales to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Provides ongoing training and development of management team and staff
  • Reviews all department schedules for proper coverage and staffing demands
  • Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for safety and security of staff and guests
  • Codes invoices to the correct accounting code / department
  • Complete necessary paperwork and communicate payroll, onboarding, termination and personnel changes to HR
  • Ensures that services meet expectations and the quality meets company standards
  • Facilitates timely and effective communication between Restaurant, Hotel, HR and Accounting teams
  • Resolves escalated customer relation issues, responds to online reviews and addresses guest requests or concerns
  • Inspects and evaluates cleanliness and physical condition of guest rooms, public areas and entire facility
  • Oversees the Market/Gift Shop by ensuring inventory, ordering, stocking and pricing is appropriate and completed timely
  • Tracks purchases and maintains at or below budgets
  • Maintains accurate records of cash flow, accounts receivable, credit card transactions, room charges and registration information
  • Generates accounts receivable invoices and processes payments
  • Monitor house accounts for outstanding payments and resolve
  • Manages and configures the Property Management Systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Issue and redeem gift certificates
  • Prepares reports concerning revenue, payroll expenses, department expenses, inventory, receipts and forecasting
  • Assist the General Manager in achieving goals for revenue, labor, department expenses and guest satisfaction
  • Assist with sales plans to accommodate organizational goals
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules and discount rates
  • Stays up-to-date on industry trends and popular concepts
  • Report to maintenance needed repairs or unsafe conditions
  • Ensures Maintenance team carries out planned maintenance
  • Assists in performing front desk, maintenance and housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Performs duties in the absence of the General Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Prior management experience in hospitality
