SUMMARY

The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for maintaining, controlling, and balancing the house fund for the hotel. This position fully understands and enforces standard operating procedures relating to the house fund and Associate cash over/short reporting. The Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the Assistant Director of Finance and Accounts Receivable Supervisor within areas of credit, collections, and billing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties include; although are not limited to:

  • Verifying deposit envelops from cashiers and preparing deposit for bank pick up
  • Counting large quantities of cash, preparing bank deposit slips, verifying armored truck transport and confirming bank deposit receipts
  • Handling gift card orders via phone and internet
  • Maintaining the accuracy of the electronic gift card program (Elavon)
  • Researching and responding to credit card merchant retrievals and charge backs in a prompt manner, filing responses for future reference
  • Promptly handling guest inquiry calls on a daily basis
  • Assisting cashiers with all change request needs and keeping cash safe in good working order with sufficient change to maintain available funds
  • Providing training to newly hired cashiers on house banks and banking procedures
  • Maintaining control over cash throughout the hotel by auditing all cashier banks and making sure the General Cashier's cash safe is in balance on a daily basis
  • Performing other tasks as needed such as issuing permanent and temporary banks to cashiers, maintaining current contracts on all cashiers, maintaining deposit discrepancy log for appropriate errors made in deposits, and issuing daily over/short discrepancy report to managers for follow-up

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School or equivalent education required. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Previous General Cashier work or Bank Teller experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Accounts Receivable preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day. Walking and standing are occasionally required. This position requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
