Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School is an independent community school serving students in TK–8. Our mission is to cultivate a joyful learning community that builds students’ capacity for critical thinking, creativity, and moral courage through a complementary curriculum of general and Jewish studies.

Hausner enrolls approximately 340 students and offers a rigorous academic program supported by small class sizes, exceptional faculty, and a strong sense of community. We are committed to educating the whole child and to fostering an inclusive, diverse environment grounded in shared values.


About the Position

Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School is seeking a dependable and engaging part-time Aftercare Teacher to supervise and support students in the after-school program. This position is responsible for providing a safe, structured, and welcoming environment through age-appropriate games, enrichment activities, homework support, and supervised free play.


Schedule: Approximately 3:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m., Monday through Friday (approximately 2.75 hours per day)


Compensation: Starting at $23.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience


Student Groups: TK-8 students or assigned grade levels


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise students indoors and outdoors.
  • Lead age-appropriate games, projects, and activities.
  • Support homework and quiet study as needed.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed environment.
  • Track attendance and ensure students are released to authorized adults.
  • Communicate student concerns, injuries, or incidents to Hausner staff.
  • Assist with snack, setup, and cleanup.
  • Follow all Hausner safety, confidentiality, and child protection requirements.

Professional Qualities and Skills:

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, recreation, or similar setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and group supervision skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, patient, and able to work collaboratively.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Requirements:
  • Actively supervise students in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the campus for extended periods.
  • Participate in games, recreational activities, and other student engagement activities.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Respond quickly to student needs and emergency situations.

Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required pre-employment clearances, including Live Scan fingerprinting, TB clearance, employment eligibility verification (Form I-9), and all required school and state training.
