Success in this role requires strong photography skills, an eye for marketable images, and an understanding of licensing and copyright.

What are the typical assignments and daily responsibilities for a Getty Photography?

Getty Photographers often work on a dynamic mix of assignments, ranging from covering breaking news events and sports games to editorial shoots and corporate projects. Their daily responsibilities include researching and preparing for shoots, capturing high-quality images that tell a compelling story, and editing and uploading images to meet tight deadlines. To become a Getty photographer, you should develop strong photography skills, build a professional portfolio, and gain experience in photojournalism or commercial photography. • Collaborate with the Managing Editor to guide the editing team during group edits, ensuring cohesive teamwork and meeting deadlines.

Oversee or collaborate with onsite teams (editors, photographers, freelancers), ensuring that workflows align with the event scale and tight deadlines.

• Act independently and confidently to ensure coverage quality and efficiency.

Training and Mentorship:

• Assist in the training and mentor freelance editors in accordance with company standards, covering image transmission, quality, captioning, and delivery.

• Provide feedback on the editing processes to the managing editor to identify improvements, contributing to the team’s growth and excellence.

Client Relationship Management:

• Build strong relationships with both internal and external clients, delivering exceptional customer service for editorial and client-driven assignments.

• Serve as a key liaison during commercial workflows, ensuring client needs are met.

• Foster a collaborative environment, promoting respect, open communication, and a positive culture where every team member feels valued and supported.

What You'll Need:

• Strong editorial skills with expertise in RAW workflows, photo editing, and metadata management.

• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and client service skills.

• Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail and an ability to meet tight deadlines.

• Proven ability to manage time effectively and function in high-pressure situations.

• Strong leadership abilities and a passion for mentoring and developing talent.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure smooth workflows and resolve technical challenges.

• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, often on evenings and weekends (valid passport required).
