Who We’re Looking For

Toyota Financial Services is seeking a Software Engineering, Lead (Software Engineering Manager) to lead feature‑level execution and guide a small team within our dealer and consumer digital platforms. This role balances hands‑on engineering with technical leadership and delivery ownership and includes people management responsibilities where applicable.

The ideal candidate is a strong engineer who can design and deliver high‑quality solutions, mentor others, and ensure features are production‑ready, scalable, and aligned with Toyota's engineering standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Software Engineering, Lead you will:

  • Lead feature and service development end‑to‑end, from design and implementation through testing and production support.
  • Design and build scalable, fault‑tolerant services and APIs that support dealer and consumer‑facing workflows.
  • Provide hands‑on technical guidance on best practices, code quality, and design decisions.
  • Own feature‑level architecture for capabilities such as PreQual, Pricing, Incentives, or Funding.
  • Coordinate delivery activities including functional, integration, and performance testing, deployment, and production readiness.
  • Work closely with Product and cross‑functional partners to ensure execution aligns with priorities and timelines.
  • Support dealer integrations and operate high‑availability production systems with a strong reliability mindset.
  • Contribute to hiring, mentoring, and team culture, helping grow technical depth and collaboration.
  • Foster adherence to Toyota engineering standards, resiliency practices, and operational discipline.
What You Bring
  • Bachelorʼs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of features or services in production.
  • Strong hands‑on experience building Java‑based services using modern frameworks.
  • Proven experience with REST, GraphQL, and event‑driven APIs within enterprise ecosystems.
  • Practical AWS experience, including ECS, Fargate, serverless components, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting dealer‑centric platforms and high‑availability, customer‑facing systems.
  • Solid understanding of credit tiers, pricing rules, and incentive/subvention concepts.
  • Frontend exposure to React, Next.js, or Vue for dealer or consumer UI flows.
  • Strong quality mindset with experience in functional, integration, and performance testing.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and communicate effectively across technical and non‑technical audiences.
UI Skills
  • Works closely with frontend engineers to support end‑to‑end feature delivery.
  • Ensures APIs are optimized for UI consumption (latency, payload size, contract clarity).
  • Can review and contribute to React / Next.js components when needed.
Data Skills
  • Understands how feature‑level data is persisted, emitted, and consumed.
  • Ensures correctness of request/response payloads and event messages.
  • Supports basic data needs for debugging, reporting, and operational analysis.
