Job description

Description
The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures seeks applications to fill a 3-year position as Assistant Professor on the Academic General Faculty, Teaching track for the 2026-2027 academic year. Primary responsibilities include teaching of language and culture courses across the undergraduate curriculum as well as departmental service. Candidates with proven record of excellence in teaching college-level German language courses are preferred. Core responsibilities of this position include teaching six courses per year in the German language program (3/3). This is a three-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility but not the guarantee of renewal.
The successful applicant will join a vibrant community of undergraduate students and committed scholar-teachers.
Review of applications will begin starting on May 5, 2026 and the position will remain open until interviews have started. The anticipated start date is August 10, 2026.
Qualifications
A completed PhD in German at the time of the appointment is required, as are native or near-native fluency in German. Experience teaching at the undergraduate college level in German is preferred.
