Job description

Allina Health is seeking an experienced, visionary physician leader to join our team as Medical Director for Senior Health and System Geriatrics. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for senior health services across our integrated healthcare system while maintaining focus on administration in the Senior Health medical practice, as well as a clinical practice focused on delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
As System Medical Director, you will collaborate with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, operational leaders, and multidisciplinary care teams to advance quality, safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes for older adults. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of geriatric care delivery across Allina Health while helping patients achieve their best possible health and well-being.

Key Position Details

  • System-wide physician leadership opportunity
  • Supervising approximately 15 Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers
  • Drive strategic initiatives in Senior Health
  • Partner closely with operational and executive leadership
  • Lead quality, patient experience and care transformation efforts
  • Maintain a meaningful clinical practice caring for older adults
  • Practice primarily in Senior Health Co-Care, providing in-home care to complex patients (average of 5 to 6 patients in a clinical day)
  • Opportunity for flexibility in other practice areas as desired
  • Participation in Senior Health call rotation required
  • Influence physician engagement, recruitment and development across the system
  • Opportunity to shape innovative models of care for an aging population

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine and
  • Completed a residency program as applicable to their clinical specialty
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in designated specialty preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine
  • Completion of ACGME-accredited Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine


Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Licensed Physician - WI required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
  • Prescription Monitoring Program required upon hire
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire
