Job description

Gerber Kawasaki is one of the fastest growing and most influential independent Wealth and Investment Management firms in the country. We are searching for a Senior Tax Associate to be the Internal expert responsible for managing tax reporting, compliance, audits, optimization, and tax planning functions.We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to deal effectively with clients and management. This a unique opportunity for the right candidate to grow, joining our diverse, well-established and growing company.


This role is 100% in office 5 days/week, 8am-5pm; however please note that hours will change during tax season based on the needs and demands of the tax department.


Salary: $85K+, DOE


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Accounting, Masters preferred
  • Enrolled Agent preferred
  • 5 years ofrelevant work experience with an accounting firm
  • 1-3 years of management experience
  • Experience working with w/C-corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, and individuals
  • Ability to communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office, and web-based databases
  • Experience in working collaboratively across different teams and departments
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining the highest attention to detail
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment and reliability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the accuracy of tax returns and oversee all aspects of the Company's tax obligations for various types of entities including C- Corporations, S-corporations, Partnerships, and Individuals
  • Prepare and review supporting schedules for completion of income tax returns
  • Prepare/Review monthly Payroll for business clients
  • Manage various tax audits and respond to federal and state agencies inquiries and tax notices
  • Perform research on various tax issues including federal and state income taxes
  • Review process and filing calendars to ensure completeness of ongoing filings
  • Responsible for handling tax preparation, filing, and planning
  • Responsible for managing the tax process and providing taxation advice to the clients
  • Review and analyze financial statements and post-adjusting journal entries
  • Prepare tax projections
  • Maintain a working relationship with selected clients
  • Keep up to date on the latest tax updates and regulations
