Experienced Geotechnical Lab Technician II - Houston, Texas

Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What are we looking for?

The Experienced Geotechnical Lab Technician II  is responsible for performing a variety of construction materials testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or form detailed controlled procedures.

What you'll do:

  • Operate testing equipment and conduct geotechnical lab testing, (example: Atterberg Limits, Sieve Analysis, Unconfined Compressive (UC) strength test, Triaxial tests (UU, CU), Swell test, permeability tests etc.) independently or with minimum help.
  • Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams to complete work
  • Maintain and calibrate standard equipment
  • Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of geotechnical laboratory testing experience. Construction experience is not considered. 
  • ASTM soil lab testing experience
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
  • Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
  • Ability to work over night hours and off shift

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
