Job Description
Terracon is seeking an experienced Regional Technical Consultant - Geotechnical to join our Team in the Gulf Coast Region! This individual can sit in any of our Terracon offices located in the Gulf Coast Region, which include the following: Huntsville, AL; Birmingham, AL; Mobile, AL; Jackson, MS; New Orleans, LA; Baton Rouge, LA; Lake Charles, LA; and Shreveport, LA.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead efforts in the Gulf Coast West region which includes the State of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, incorporating 8 offices.
A successful candidate will oversee and provide technical expertise in the performance and review of geotechnical services operating throughout the Gulf Coast and surrounding Regions. This induvial will lead and support the development, operations, and growth of the geotechnical service line. Provide direction and lead efforts to standardize policies, practices, and procedures across offices in the region. Monitor the performance of geotechnical teams and support ongoing training, site visits, quality audits and safety incident investigation. May participate in client development and recruitment of new geotechnical professionals for the region.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with departments and offices within the region by providing technical expertise and consulting to further the development of the geotechnical service line.
  • Serve as the primary geotechnical subject matter expert, resource, and point of contact to office and department personnel within the region.
  • Develop, refine, and recommend policies, practices and procedures for the geotechnical service line to drive uniformity and standardization across the region.
  • Partner and collaborate with other Regional Technical Consultants in other regions to develop the geotechnical service line across divisions and operating groups.
  • Assist region departments in the execution of growth strategies and actions necessary to achieve the strategic and annual operations plans.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for the service line including but not limited to drilling and sampling techniques, lab testing standards, engineering analysis, and field best practices to offices in the region.
  • Provide technical support on projects as needed.
  • Assist in the development of projects, business and clients.
  • May participate in client development, proposal support, and pursuit strategy activities.
  • May assist in identifying and interviewing key geotechnical hires to strengthen the region's technical capabilities.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • A minimum of 12 years' related experience in Geotechnical Engineering, particularly in consulting.
  • Professional Registration License in Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama is required with the ability to obtain a Professional Registration in other states preferred.

Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years' related experience in Geotechnical Engineering, particularly in consulting.
  • The ability to obtain a professional registration in other states preferred.
