Job description

The Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex geospatial projects ranging from $100K to $19M. Projects may include aerial and field data acquisition, domestic and international data processing, advanced analytics, and reporting. Our insights are used by commercial, electric, oil and gas companies for operations, risk mitigation, and infrastructure development. Our projects maximize benefits and minimize negative impacts on people and the natural environment.

This role leads cross-functional teams and serves as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong client relationships, and alignment with organizational goals. The Sr. PM reports to the Director of the PMO.

Project Leadership

  • Lead the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout
  • Serve as the primary client-facing representative for all project execution activities
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to maximize performance and efficiency

Planning & Development

  • Develop project charters, schedules, and comprehensive project plans
  • Refine scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Refine budgets in coordination with Acquisition, Production, Sales and Estimating teams
  • Identify resource needs, task sequencing, and activity durations
  • Collaborate with technical teams to establish quality plans to comply with project requirements

Execution & Delivery

  • Direct and manage project tasks in accordance with approved plans and timelines
  • Assign responsibilities based on team members’ expertise and capabilities
  • Maintain strong communication with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
  • Ensure quality control processes are implemented and adhered to throughout project execution 

Monitoring & Control

  • Track project performance against schedule, budget, and quality metrics
  • Conduct regular project reviews and status reporting
  • Manage scope, schedule, and cost changes through formal change control processes
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively
  • Maintain accurate project data in ERP systems, including EAC projections and forecasts
  • Partner with Finance to ensure timely invoicing and minimum work-in-progress (WIP)

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Provide clear, consistent communication and reporting to stakeholders
  • Act as liaison between clients, project teams, and internal departments

Business Development Support

  • Support pre-sales efforts by contributing to project planning, scheduling, and risk assessment
  • Review contracts and proposals to ensure alignment with operational capabilities
  • Collaborate with Sales, Estimating, and Operations teams as needed

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide mentorship and project oversight to Project Managers as assigned
  • Contribute to PMO process improvements, standards, and best practices
  • Lead or participate in initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and project delivery

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and solutions-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams
  • Proficiency in collaborative tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams)

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, GIS, Engineering, or a related field
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
  • 10+ years of project management experience, preferably in GIS/mapping or related fields
  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects from initiation through completion
  • Experience developing project schedules, work breakdown structures, and Gantt charts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in geospatial, infrastructure, or related industries
  • Electric transmission line siting experience
