Job description

Leidos is actively interviewing for a Mid-Level Data Scientist to join our team in Springfield, VA.
This team member will collect, process, and perform data analysis and deliver data driven solutions to quantitatively improve the mission area of Maritime Features. Surface, Publications, Events, Dissemination, Source Assessment, and Metrics.
We're looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology, analytics, and mission, and who is passionate about transforming geospatial data into actionable intelligence that drives smarter decisions and stronger outcomes.
Primary Responsiblities
  • Collect process data and perform data analysis.
  • Integrate centralized protect and maintain data in DBMS.
  • Clean massage and organized data.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
  • Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise and actionable manner using storytelling/visualization.
  • Assist with creation/deployment/maintenance of cloud applications to support migration of data and production processes
  • Assist with creation/maintenance of tools to extract features data and meta-data from a variety of sources, including Raster to vector-to-vector text to vector and text database.
  • Write/maintain Python scripts in Arc GIS to improve efficiency of the production process.
  • Assist in providing support to Business Processing Re-engineering.
  • Perform Data Conversion/migration
  • Assist with development and performance of automated Business Analytics.

Basic Qualifications
  • Typically requires a BA degree and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in data science, including the areas of data collection processing exploitation, transformation services, modeling, and analytics.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience, using Tableau or equivalent Business Intelligence software and software server functions.
  • 3 - 5 years of demonstrated programming skills with the ability to write/maintain scripts, including Python and Java, scripts and familiar familiarity of querying with SQL. Knowledge and experience using developing code using versions control tools like get advance, knowledge and data science, including the areas of data services, modeling, and analytics.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to be approved for a CI Poly

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 - 3 years of demonstrated experience performing geospatial data management, including data type conversions coordinate systems in (latitude and longitude, UTM) and their conversions and knowledge of projections and their properties/conversions.
  • Experience in combining, digital cartography, computer, technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial, production techniques, remote, sensing photography and digital data formats.
  • Experience building dashboards/websites portraying data analytics.
  • Experience cleansing, structuring, large sets of data.
  • Experience performing data analysis to examine data from a variety of angles to determine hidden values, weaknesses, trends, and or opportunities next line knowledge of ESRI, ArcGIS/ArcPro and Arc Server
  • Experience with ESRI Workflow Manager, WMX and TAM
  • Knowledge of database systems and architecture
  • Ability writing SQL.
  • Understanding, cloud architecture, and Dev Ops.
  • Knowledge of symbolization rules.
  • Knowledge of generalization rules.
  • Experience working with geospatial data in multiuser enterprise environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with data quality control, tools, including ArcGIS data reviewer
  • Knowledge of metrics dissemination.
  • Familiarity with emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, tools, and methodologies, with an understanding of their applications, implications, and integration into daily geospatial and intelligence workflows.
