We are seeking a versatile software engineer to work on a complex and ever-changing system with a fast-growing user base. You will have the opportunity to solve evolving technical challenges ranging from building scalable cloud services to processing large-scale geospatial datasets. If you thrive shifting between core software development and specialized data engineering at scale, this may be the program for you. Your day-to-day activities will include designing and implementing new capabilities, resolving operational issues, and contributing ideas that will help shape the direction of mission supporting capabilities. Responsibilities: * Collaborate with team to design, build, and maintain scalable backend software solutions
* Develop and optimize big data pipelines to process massive geospatial datasets
* Design and deploy AWS cloud-native backend services and capabilities
* Evaluate and integrate new technologies quickly as program requirements evolve
* Investigate and resolve operational issues, system bottlenecks, and production bugs to maintain optimal system health
* Participate in planning, design, and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards and code quality
* Ensure high performance, reliability, and resiliency across all backend services Qualifications: Required: * Current and active TS/SCI clearance
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, etc.
* 5 or more years of experience working as a software engineer or in a related field
* 3-5 years or more of strong Java development skills
* Demonstrated experience with geospatial data processing and spatial databases like Postgres
* 3 or more years of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm or similar
* Skill with automated deployment pipelines using DevOps tools like GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Nexus or similar platforms
* The attitude, aptitude, and willingness to learn current and emerging technologies
* Willing to work a hybrid schedule Desired: * Experience with big data frameworks like Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and Apache Iceberg
* Linux/Red Hat knowledge
* Python programming experience
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
