This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Analyst for our Raleigh, NC office to support our Southeast Region Geospatial / Surveying Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team conducting SUE of all levels. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional management team, highly regarded in the market, and within a supportive and collaborative company culture.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a robust and rapidly growing Geospatial team offering ongoing training/mentoring and promotional opportunities, as well as a stable backlog. New Graduates with a BS degree in a relevant discipline will be considered.

Your Impact

  • Assist with development and maintenance of site safety plans
  • Create a culture of safety observing and complying with all company and related safety rules
  • Lead SUE Field Crew in day-to-day operations, including but not limited to utility locating, vacuum excavation, and data collection
  • Mentor junior staff, training on utility location and vacuum excavation
  • Ensure assigned SUE field project tasks and data collection are quality, accurate, and thorough
  • Communicate with office staff on project progress, project needs, equipment needs, etc.
  • Engage in occasional contact with client personnel to schedule and coordinate project activities.
  • Occasionally work with utility owners to obtain needed as-built/schematic records
  • Complete assigned projects in the field, on schedule and under budget
  • Work with office crew to create an accurate and complete deliverable
  • Remain current in latest SUE/survey knowledge, techniques, and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Assist project managers with estimates for project budgets

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the SUE industry
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a diverse team
  • Analytical, detail oriented, goal driven, problem solver, self-lead
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Display proficiency with both EM and GPR locating equipment
  • Display proficiency in reading utility as-built/schematic records
  • Display working knowledge of survey equipment (conventional and GPS)
  • Ability to operate vacuum excavation equipment
  • Ability to traverse terrain, as project dictates, in all seasons
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs or work as a team to do so
  • Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable MVR
  • Be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening
  • Able to work occasional overtime as project timeline dictates
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
