Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a Industrial Surveying & Geomatics Specialist to join our team. This role combines technical leadership in 3D laser scanning, drone operations, and geomatics surveying for industrial and construction projects. The ideal candidate will be skilled in fieldwork, data processing, CAD modeling, and team training, while maintaining strong compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and perform land, topographic, boundary, and construction surveys using GNSS, total stations, and conventional methods.
  • Operate and manage UAVs (drones) for aerial surveys, inspections, and mapping, ensuring FAA compliance.
  • Conduct 3D laser scanning (terrestrial and mobile) including equipment setup, data acquisition, and QA.
  • Process drone and laser scan data using Pix4D, DJI Terra, Leica Cyclone, Trimble RealWorks, etc.
  • Create 3D models, surfaces, and contours using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or similar CAD tools.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for field teams, designers, and engineers on surveying technologies and workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, CAD technicians, and stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and timely deliverables.
  • Maintain and calibrate survey and scanning equipment regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocols in all field activities.
  • Support integration of survey data into GIS and BIM platforms.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field (or 10+ years of equivalent experience).
  • Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in surveying, UAV operations, and 3D scanning.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD and survey software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Trimble Business Center, Leica Cyclone).
  • Strong knowledge of coordinate systems, geospatial data processing, and data management.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Valid driver's license with willingness to travel.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and rugged terrains.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods (12+ hours).
  • Comfortable working at heights (up to 250 feet), including ladders or scaffolding.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for field equipment handling.
  • Current first aid certification required.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
  • Professional Surveyor license or equivalent.
  • Experience with point cloud processing, BIM, and GIS integration.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and rigging for industrial survey environments.
