Are you ready to launch your career by gaining diverse and valuable experience as an Engineer-in-Training in the Energy Sector?
Cenovus's New Grad Program aims to attract,develop,andretainexceptional newgradsto build a top talent pipeline for the company. The program provides newgradswith a broad understanding of Cenovus's core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, fieldexposureand the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.
The program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments across the Conventional Business Unit. Upon successful completion, participants will be placed in a permanent Calgary-based role aligned with business needs and individual strengths.
Our Conventional Business Unit operates a diverse portfolio of natural gas and light oil assets across Western Canada, offering exposure to the full asset lifecycle, from subsurface evaluation and development planning to operations optimization and infrastructure execution.
As an Engineer-in-Training, potential rotations may include:
Reservoir Engineering- reservoir characterization, reserves evaluation, production forecasting, field surveillance, and development planning.
Production Engineering- production optimization, well performance analysis, and operational supportincluding optimization of pipelines and compression infrastructure.
Facilities Engineering- design, construction,project management, and optimization ofplants and facilities.
Operations Technology & Optimization Engineering- process automation, control systems, AI systems development, digital operations, and production optimization.
Asset Development Engineering- integrated development planning, economic evaluations, capital project delivery, and multidisciplinary asset management.

What you'll do
Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific rotation and business area but may include:
Supporting development and optimization of natural gas and light oil assets.
Analyzing production, reservoir, operational, and economic data to support business decisions.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including geoscience, operations, facilities, and commercial groups.
Participating in field visits and operational reviews to gain firsthand understanding of asset performance and challenges.
Contributing to capital projects, production enhancement initiatives, and asset development opportunities.
Applying engineering principles to identify risks, improve performance, and deliver value to the business.
Your first rotation and final placement will be based in Calgary, AB. Additional rotations may include field-based opportunities and travel to various operating areas across Cenovus' Conventional asset portfolio.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Available to begin work in June 2027.
Undergraduate or graduate engineering degree obtained by May 31, 2027, and completed within the last two years (2025, 2026, or before May 31, 2027).
Eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA.
Less than two years of professional engineering experience related to your discipline, excluding co-op, internship, or student experience.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Willingness to learn, adapt, and work across multiple engineering disciplines and operating areas.
Results-driven and comfortable working in a high-energy, dynamic work culture
