Splash into a new opportunity with the City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Aquatics Team! Teach swim lessons as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI certification provided by us).
Multiple positions available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. This is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents of this class; employees may be assigned duties which are not listed below; reasonable accommodations will be made as required. The job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Teach the fundamental Learn-to-swim courses, including Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-3, Swim Academy, Adult, and Private Swimming lessons.
  • Course planning and class preparation required, including lesson plans, skills checklists, and required American Red Cross paperwork.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to program participants at all times.
  • Attend mandatory in-service trainings and staff meetings as scheduled by supervisors or manager.
  • Supervise and guard the aquatics pool area to ensure participants adhere to all City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Aquatics guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist lifeguard staff in maintaining clean and safe operational pool areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire. Regular punctual attendance is required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Valid Class "C" Texas driver's license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history.
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred.
EMPLOYMENT TESTING:
Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing, criminal background investigation and driving record check, if applicable.
Hiring Range: $14.50 - $16.50 hourly.
