Job description

SUMMARY

Develops, implements, and supports the logistics of global inbound/outbound transportation and domestic freight management ensuring an effective logistics network which aligns with and promotes Subaru's business strategy. Negotiates and implements global and regional logistics procurement strategies across all modes which are cost-effective, meet defined standards, and align with Subaru's core values. Serves as subject matter expert (SME) and Subaru Corporation's (SBR's) and Subaru of America's (SOA's) main point of contact for logistic strategies as it relates to container procurement and global network opportunities such as carrier contracts and route optimization.

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES
  • Ensures that a delivery network is developed and supported across all dimensions (people, processes, technology) that is safe, reliable, and satisfies the dealer network as measured by Net Promoter Score (NPS), customer loyalty data, and operational key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Leads all procurement and contractual vendor activities, including request for proposals (RFPs) with carriers and third-party logistics companies (3PLs). Negotiates outcomes that drive efficiency and productivity while preserving our client experience.
  • Establishes clear standards and metrics; measures and holds third-party partners accountable to negotiated agreements with periodic, thoughtful business reviews; and tracks supplier performance, identifying opportunities to improve performance and processes in a quest for continuous improvement. Builds constructive relationships with suppliers’ senior management and industry thought leaders.
  • Guides the development of transportation policies and procedures that support and promote parts and accessories sales activities. Serves as a catalyst for parts and accessories growth and profitability by delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Oversees company compliance with international and domestic dangerous goods transportation regulations while maintaining a safe working environment for Subaru team members. Keeps current on ever-changing global happenings which could affect Subaru’s logistics practices and works with Director – Logistics and Port Operations regarding implementation of process changes and long-term planning.
  • Manages the detailed financial planning, reporting, and analysis of Logistics cost, providing in-depth analysis to senior management.
  • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) and Subaru Corporation’s (SBR’s) and Subaru of America’s (SOA’s) main point of contact for logistic strategies as it relates to container procurement and global network opportunities. Effectively balances cost- and timesaving measures and keeps up with best practices in an industry that is rapidly changing. Provides valuable insights to business leaders that could affect business practices and profitability.
  • Works closely with Aftersales & Loyalty department, including Parts Distribution and Aftersales Planning team on SOA initiatives to enhance parts distribution network
  • Leads logistics risk assessment and business continuity planning efforts, developing contingency strategies for transportation disruptions, capacity shortages, labor actions, weather events, and geopolitical impacts to ensure uninterrupted supply chain performance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Represents Subaru at industry meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology (IT) Department for updates to, as well as effectively utilizes, relevant technology, including the Parts Transportation Management (TMS) application.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and implements continuous improvement initiatives utilizing data analytics and process improvement methodologies to enhance service performance, eliminate waste, and reduce logistics costs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • At least 8-10 years required
  • Ability to achieve results through successful leadership and team development, as well as effective planning, organization, implementation, and execution.
  • Ability to collaborate across functional teams, enlisting active participation in projects and solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to digest complex data sets and present recommendations to senior management.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop teams, providing them growth and cross-training opportunities.
  • Ability to accomplish clear planning and goal setting, as well as determine essential tasks and eliminate roadblocks.
  • Demonstrated drive for ingenuity and forward thinking on logistic network design and solutions.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry including cost and service offerings - both international and domestic.
  • Ability to communicate parts policies and procedures to transportation suppliers.
  • Certification in international and domestic dangerous goods transport regulations, Upon Hire Required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree Required and At Least 8-10 years related experience required.

  • Office Location: Camden, NJ; apart of the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philly)
  • Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)
COMPENSATION:

The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $118200-$160000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Additionally, this role is bonus-eligible, with a target bonus percentage that provides an opportunity to earn even more based on your performance. (Internal Job Grade: M2)
