Job description

Crux Subsurface, a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE: PWR), is a geotechnical drilling company merging innovation with experience to consistently provide accurate data and efficient, constructible solutions to projects of any size.

Our multidisciplinary team combines the expertise of structural and geotechnical engineers with experienced drillers, construction managers, geologists, and quality management specialists.


The IBEW Union Driller is responsible for geotechnical exploration using specialized equipment such as the Crux 2500–6000 series, DMW rigs, and HTD 10K. This role requires the willingness to become a union member through IBEW, extensive travel, and physical capability. Preferred qualifications include deep drilling experience (1,000+ ft), geotechnical expertise, and work in helicopter-supported environments.


  • Perform geotechnical exploration drilling using Crux 2500–6000 series, DMW 65/100, and HTD 10K rigs
  • Conduct soil and rock core sampling, standard penetration tests (SPT), and other subsurface investigation methods
  • Set up, operate, and maintain drilling equipment in the field
  • Document drilling logs and field data accurately
  • Work in remote and challenging terrain including helicopter-supported sites
  • Coordinate daily with project engineers, field quality personnel, and crew members
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical issues in the field
  • Follow all safety protocols and site-specific safety plans

  • 2+ years geotechnical drilling experience (deep drilling 1,000+ ft preferred)
  • Competency in geotechnical exploration methods and equipment
  • Experience with ground monitoring equipment installation preferred
  • Experience in helicopter-supported environments preferred
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
  • Able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Available to travel 85% of the time

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $45.00/Hr. - USD $60.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
