Verdantas is seeking a Municipal Funding & Grant Strategist to support the growth of our government and municipal planning services across the Northeast. Preferred location is within the Northeast Area (i.e., New England, New York, and the MidAtlantic), with flexibility across the Verdantas office locations.

This role is focused on helping our public-sector clients secure funding to advance planning and infrastructure initiatives, while positioning Verdantas as a trusted partner that connects planning, engineering, and implementation. This position connects planning services with Verdantas' existing technical disciplines, strengthening our ability to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions for public-sector and government agencies.

As the Municipal Funding & Grant Strategist, you will work closely with planners, engineers, environmental scientists, and government market leaders to align municipal planning efforts with state and federal funding opportunities. This role will support grant strategy, application development, and funding-ready planning deliverables that help municipalities move from vision to implementation.

What You'll Do:

  • Identify, track, and evaluate federal, state, and regional funding programs relevant to municipal planning and infrastructure projects

  • Support development of grant strategies tied to comprehensive plans, transportation plans, stormwater and watershed studies, resilience initiatives, and capital improvement programs

  • Lead or support the preparation of grant applications, including narratives, benefit-cost framing, and supporting documentation

  • Collaborate with planning and engineering teams to create funding-ready scopes and planning + funding service bundles

  • Assist government market leaders with pursuit strategy, proposal development, and positioning related to funded programs

  • Engage with municipal staff, agencies, and partners to align project priorities with available funding sources

  • Maintain internal tools or resources that track funding programs, deadlines, and awarded grants


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field

  • 5-10+ years of experience working with public-sector funding, grants, or government programs

  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading grant applications for municipal or infrastructure-related projects

  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical planning concepts into clear funding narratives

  • Familiarity with municipal planning processes and infrastructure programs is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and support multiple pursuits simultaneously

  • Interest in public-sector service and helping communities advance funded, implementable projects

Salary Range:

The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000, with final compensation determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and licensing status.
