Position: Staff Geologist
Location: Austin, TX


Mission/ Position Description Summary
The mission of a Staff Geologist for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to support the project manager or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines.


Responsibilities Include:
Performing field work including marking borings, lab testing as needed, logging behind drill rigs (ability to lift 50 lbs. and some travel and alternating shiftwork should be expected)
Coordinate field and/or lab assignments
Engineering analyses for shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and settlement.
Drafting geotechnical reports for Project Mangers review
Assisting Project Managers in Business Development


Key Criteria/Requirements:
MSCE or BSCE with three to five years of directly related experience.
Registered GIT or in the process of becoming one.
Excellent written and communication skills and strong math and science skills
Valid Texas Driver License
Ability to tolerate year round outdoor work
Ability to trouble shoot and fix testing equipment a plus
Ability to work nights and weekends sometimes traveling within Texas (as needed)
Additional Key Expectations:
Obtain PG license within 2 years
