Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Canada Exploration, the Exploration Geologist is part of SSR's Au-Cu exploration programs and collaborates with other departments of the company. The exploration geologist plays an important role in terms of planning, follow-up, target generation, logging and sampling, mapping, interpretation of the models, compliance with SSR's best practices (including highest HSEC standards), QA/QC, and reporting.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Help implement drilling programs and work with technicians

  • Ensure and plan field activities in a safe manner

  • Conduct geological field mapping as required

  • Conduct geological and geotechnical logging of drill core

  • Interpret assay results and produce a report

  • Assist and participate in weekly and monthly safety meetings/presentations,

  • Implement procedures for exploration department

  • Verify that the QA/QC is properly respected in the field sampling and drilling processes,

  • Examine the exploration activities to ensure that they're safe,

  • Create and update maps using ESRI ArcPRO software and maintain a GIS database.

  • Completion and filing of Assessment reports

  • Participate in targeting exercises in support of exploration in prospective areas.

  • Use GPS navigation to locate and mark sampling and data points while hiking in the field carrying sampling equipment and sample

  • Enter logging/assay information in Leapfrog in support of geologic model generation

Work Schedule: This position has a varied schedule. During active drilling and field programs, a 14x14 rotation based out of our remote exploration camps. You will be required to fly in fly out of Saskatoon. During off seasons, a Monday to Friday schedule is in effect.

Is This You?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in exploration

  • Strong commitment to safety

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written)

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team

  • Physical capability and skills for field work, including camping

  • Travel extensively during field season

  • Travel internationally when required

  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

  • Software expertise in Leapfrog, ArcPRO, ioGAS is an asset
