Ontologist – Expert System IntegratorAre you an experienced Systems Integrator with deep expertise in GEOINT, ontology frameworks, and enterprise-level systems engineering? Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a highly skilled Ontologist – Expert System Integrator to support the evolution and integration of mission-critical capabilities across the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) and Allied System for Geospatial Intelligence (ASG) enterprise. In this role, you will drive the adoption of new data sources, guide ontology governance, and ensure seamless integration of capabilities that directly support national security missions.Your RoleAs an Ontologist – Expert System Integrator, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting the Government's vision for enterprise-wide systems integration and data interoperability. You will lead the design, implementation, and governance of ontology frameworks, translate mission requirements into actionable solutions, and provide expert guidance that enables efficient planning, acquisition, and execution of GEOINT capabilities. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge mission needs, technical architectures, and stakeholder priorities across a complex Intelligence Community environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee integration efforts across the NSG/ASG systems-of-systems enterpriseProvide expert technical guidance relating strategy, requirements, processes, and capability developmentConduct solution assessments, integration planning, and scheduling analysis across product lines and mission servicesCapture, analyze, and translate mission and customer requirements into operational capabilities and technical solutionsPartner with Product Managers to support backlog grooming, roadmap development, and feature prioritizationAnalyze user workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvementEvaluate cloud service capabilities, architecture traceability, workflow constraints, and scheduling limitationsInterpret and implement customer data requirements while ensuring mission alignmentCollaborate with IPOs, the Chief Data Officer (CDO), and other enterprise stakeholders to achieve Content Conveyance objectivesSupport Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Courses of Action (CoA), Trade Studies, and Engineering AssessmentsLead technical teams responsible for ontology design, implementation, governance, and lifecycle managementEstablish and maintain ontology frameworks supporting Foundation GEOINTAssist Government leadership with technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface designMaintain Agile project schedules using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platformsOperate effectively within multi-contractor and Government team environments while managing competing priorities and deadlinesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in:Systems EngineeringComputer ScienceInformation TechnologyManagement Information SystemsEngineeringPhysicsMathematicsOperations ResearchEngineering ManagementOntologiesRelated STEM disciplineOR18+ years of experience as a Systems Integrator in lieu of a degree18+ years of relevant experience supporting Government or Industry programs involving:DoD/IC Acquisition ProcessesRequirements Development ProcessesNGA Production and DisseminationIC TCPED OperationsExpert-level experience in:Systems IntegrationSystems EngineeringEnterprise Architecture IntegrationActive TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully pass a polygraphAbility to work independently and lead technical teams within a complex mission environmentDemonstrated success working within multi-contractor and Government organizationsDesired QualificationsExpert proficiency with:Basic Formal Ontology (BFO)Common Core Ontologies (CCO)Working knowledge of:Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)Systems Engineering methodologies, tools, and languagesSoftware Development FrameworksExperience supporting Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) programs and missionsFamiliarity with:PhotogrammetryRemote SensingImage ScienceInformation Management disciplinesExperience supporting ontology development, governance, and enterprise data interoperability initiativesLocation???? 100% Onsite in Springfield, VirginiaRemote and hybrid work are not available for this position.Why Mission Intelligence GroupAt Mission Intelligence Group, engineers are trusted to focus on mission outcomes, not bureaucracy.
