Job description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support the Genus North America business accounting function. This is a key position that will perform both on-going and specialized accounting and finance assignments, usually involving complex data while exercising independent judgment as needed.

You’ll need to be located near to our Deforest, WI office as this is a hybrid role with 2 days per week of in-person collaboration.

The salary range for this position is $86,500 - $101,000 USD. The salary provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.


  • Support the timely and accurate completion of the month-end and year-end accounting close processes including maintaining subledgers, account reconciliations, journal entries, and coordination with the Shared Service Center team.
  • Work closely with Finance Business Partners to understand results, calculate and review financial validity of accruals, respond to queries from the business teams, and provide financial insight that supports operational decision-making.
  • Ensure all accounting procedures and reporting conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as applicable.
  • Assist with the completion of Group reporting requirements including half-year and full-year reporting, insurance analysis, greenhouse gas reporting, internal controls review, etc.
  • Analyze financial statements and accounts for unusual trends or discrepancies and interact with other departments as needed to resolve the root cause of any problem.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for assigned areas and provide variance analysis as requested.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing necessary work papers, providing substantive support documentation, and responding to inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of financial operating procedures and policies. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead and drive change by recognizing opportunities and implementing efficiencies and by influencing senior managers.

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in an accounting role.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, timely, and accurate financial results.
  • Experience in a fast-paced accounting environment preferred, with an organized, self-driven, and curious mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification.
  • 2 years of experience working in a global business.
