Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):
GENE 6140 Functional Genomics (Fall, 3 credits)
Course Description
This course will provide in-depth and hands-on training in using genome-wide data to answer functional questions in biology. Students will gain experience in gene expression studies using polyA-enriched RNA sequencing and data analysis to identify differentially expressed genes. The course will also explore the interaction between proteins and DNA in the context of ChIP-seq experiments and chromatin conformation capture techniques. The course will culminate in a discussion of discoveries made through major genomics initiatives such as the ENCODE project and the Epigenetics Roadmap.
The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Dean and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.
Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's degree in a related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. Prior experience in teaching for active learning is preferred. Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

Hours, Classification, and Status:
This is a part-time, exempt, adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits.
Schedules will vary depending on course assignments and the needs of the department or the Institute.
The base salary range for this position is $2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course.
Physical and Mental Requirements
