Labcorp is seeking a Senior Director Genomics to join our team in Indianapolis, IN.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Job Responsibilities:
Managerial and Leadership duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for driving overall performance and delivery of on time testing services for the global department.
  • Responsible for the global technical and administrative management of the assigned scientific discipline (Microbiology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Genomics and Immunology).
  • Responsible for providing global leadership in developing Labcorp's capabilities in the relevant scientific discipline.
  • Responsible for initiating and supporting business development activities.
  • Responsible for the quality performance of all technical services associated with assigned scientific discipline.
  • Responsible for ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for global sites in meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting established quality measures and on time responses to quality issues (QTM, PT, QCSR, etc.).

Strategy and Business Development:
  • Serves as the expert and global resource for the assigned scientific discipline.
  • Collaborates with the VP for Global Laboratory Operations in strategic planning for scientific capabilities of the department and addressing capacity needs.
  • Develops and manages global department operational budgets, department technology plans and operational plans necessary related to the strategic plan.
  • Identifies capital needs to enhance the delivery of services.
  • Initiates and champions capital improvements for the global department.
  • Manages the new service offerings through the entire process; New Test Feasibility/NSSO committee, validation of method, creation of new test codes and database elements.
  • Provides consultative support to the Sales department as required and to ensure the laboratory has the capability to deliver on services sold.
  • Participates in client visits, audits and inquiries; ensures complete fulfillment of requests and audit findings.
  • Provides technical consultations, as needed, for both internal and external clients.
  • Supports Six Sigma and other process improvements initiatives.

Performance Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Responsible for timely and efficient global production by his/her department in accordance with Labcorp quality standards.
  • Develops, monitors, and managers global processes and performance metrics.
  • Ensures resources are sufficient to meet performance and quality goals.
  • Evaluates production and processes to detect adverse patterns and trends.
  • Collaborates with senior management in resolving adverse trends and elevates issues to the Sr. Director and the VP of Global Laboratory Operations as necessary.
  • Ensures the timely and efficient scheduling and execution of all support activities essential to the operation of the department.
  • Ensures on time delivery of new test validations to meet client expectations and Labcorp commitments.
  • Facilitates communications between the department, global sites, and other functional areas such as CTMS and Sales.
  • Provides timely and professional communications with client contacts in areas of expertise.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Prepares Associate Director to accept duties and act on behalf of Global Department Director during absences.

Personnel
  • Recruits, develops and evaluates management personnel.
  • Ensures that management resources are available to oversee the global operations of the department.
  • Develops department volume forecasts.
  • Ensures sufficient trained and competent personnel are available and properly supervised to meet the workload requirements and to fulfill the other goals of the department.
  • Evaluates senior department management personnel.

Essential External Client-related Job Duties
  • Supports marketing and sales business development efforts by communicating and demonstrating the department's capabilities through written materials, personal meetings and scientific conferences.
  • Ensures client satisfaction through excellent relationship management, testing quality and timely contractual execution.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years or more of management experience in a clinical laboratory operations environment.
  • 5 years or more of genomics experience.
  • Master's degree in science related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in science related field.

Additional Job Standards:
  • Fluency in English.
  • Computer literate.
