The Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CBGM) at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University is currently seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. The CBGM seeks distinguished investigators with NIH funding. This position will be part of a well-funded and growing team of researchers that are dedicated to advancing translational research through the use of modern high throughput technologies. The CBGM is currently looking for applicants with expertise in the following disciplines: cardiovascular research, molecular genomics and/or vision research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent program. This position is considered to be on tenure track. Responsibilities
Duties - 95%
-Conduct cutting edge research in the fields of cardiovascular research, vision research and/or molecular genomics.
-Carry out research projects independently; design and execute research experiments, perform data analysis, write manuscripts, and publish results.
-Establish vigorous independent extramurally funded research programs to complement research strengths and goals of the department and university.
-Develop new methods and technology and work collaboratively with others in the laboratory and in the department.
-Assist with training and supervision of students, postdocs, and technicians.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D., MD, or Ph.D./MD or equivalent; Research experience and extramural funding.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University).
