This position serves as the technical authority in the field for generator installation best practices and is responsible for the execution, witnessing, and documentation of all Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) installation checks through mechanical completion and turnover to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities

- Verify critical alignments, elevations, clearances, torques, coupling interfaces, cleanliness, and preservation requirements.
- Provide technical oversight of generator auxiliary systems including hydrogen cooling, seal oil systems, stator winding cooling water systems, and excitation interfaces.
- Identify, document, and support resolution of installation non-conformances in coordination with engineering and quality teams.

- Participate in site safety meetings and actively promote safe work practices.
- Support installation walk-downs, mechanical completion verification, and readiness for handover to commissioning.
Training, Qualification & Certification
- Complete required classroom and factory training in Japan, including hands-on support of equipment assembly, to develop detailed knowledge of scope of supply, design documentation, and quality requirements. Expected three to four months of initial training in Japan.
- Perform U.S.-based OJT assignments during new unit installations, with formal skill evaluations. Successful completion of one or more OJT assignments and demonstration of skills will result in TA certification as a fully qualified, billable Technical Advisor.
- Participate in ongoing training in Japan to maintain qualification and support future project needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of technical training and extensive field experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Minimum 10-15 years of field experience in generator installation, erection, pre-commissioning, or commissioning within the power generation industry, including direct experience with new steam turbine generator installations.
- Technical Knowledge: Generator installation practices; hydrogen-cooled generators; seal oil systems; stator winding cooling water systems; H2/CO2 gas systems; excitation interfaces; auxiliary piping and instrumentation; preservation and cleanliness requirements; and construction site safety and quality management systems.
