Schedule: M – T, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM


Marine Electrician I

This position is located on shite in our Bayou La Batre, AL shipyard


Our electricians are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis. Join the Birdon team and help ensure USCG boats are safe and reliable! 


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Distinguish colors on Multi-Conductor Cable and understand color codes.
  • Connect Single Phase and Three Phase Motors.
  • Can connect Single and Three Phase Transformers.
  • Proper operation of ABT and MBT.
  • Work with all voltages in AC Power Distribution up to 1000Volts.
  • Parallel circuitry in both AC and DC.
  • Connect Generators, check phase rotation of Generator, and parallel Generators.
  • Change rotation on a three-phase motor.
  • Knows proper sizes of Motor Starters (NEMA Ratings).
  • Can check amp draw on equipment.
  • Can trouble shoot wiring and equipment.
  • Can troubleshoot MSLC and DSLC circuits.
  • Terminates and understand PLC Circuits and Motor controllers.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

  • Possesses a High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of experience as a marine electrician.
  • Fundamental knowledge in marine electrical systems.
