The Knowledge Management (KM) Attorney - Insurance + Intellectual Property is responsible for creating, distributing, and managing model documents and forms; developing and organizing content and knowledge resources for the assigned practice areas; implementing and promoting the use of relevant technology; preparing and presenting training materials; and managing and drafting internal and external thought leadership content and drives operational efficiency by developing and implementing knowledge management solutions that align with the firm's strategic objectives. The Knowledge Management Attorney plays a critical role in enhancing the firm's knowledge management capabilities for the Insurance + Intellectual Property department, including the Insurance + Reinsurance Litigation, Insurance Transactional + Regulatory, Intellectual Property, and Privacy + Cyber practice groups.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the embedded practice group knowledge management expert and liaison for assigned practice groups.

  • Own and lead the curation of knowledge artifacts in the firm's knowledge management database.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and regularly assess knowledge management strategies and systems tailored to the needs of assigned practice groups.

  • Create, organize, and maintain model documents, forms, precedents, drafting guidance, and practice area resources, ensuring they are current and readily accessible.

  • Capture and relay user feedback to drive continuous improvement of KM tools and processes, including the firm's document management system and intranet.

  • Serve as a source for legal, market, and practical expertise by reviewing internal and external materials, tracking market trends and best practices; monitoring developments in legal technology.

  • Identify gaps in the existing knowledge base content and curate targeted attorney contributions to address them.

  • Vet, plan, and execute KM innovation projects in alignment with firm goals, ensuring measurable return on investment, and track and report on project progress.

  • Partner with the Managing Director of Knowledge Management and Knowledge Management & Innovation leadership to evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance knowledge management and practice support.

  • Champion technology adoption and organizational change, ensuring successful project delivery and broad engagement with the firm's KM program.

  • Collaborate with KM and AI Partners and Practice Management to identify knowledge and training needs.

  • Support lateral onboarding by introducing new associates and partners to practice group knowledge management goals, tools, and resources, and assess any knowledge content they bring to the firm.

  • Conduct knowledge succession planning activities, including pre-departure and pre-retirement interviews, and document key processes, workflows, drafting templates, and negotiation strategies.

  • Partner with Administrative Departments throughout the firm to advance firm-wide KM initiatives.

  • Develop training materials, including presentations, reference guides, and online resources to support continuous learning and knowledge management adoption.

  • Facilitate live demonstrations, pilot programs, and success story sharing to illustrate value and drive adoption of KM tools and resources.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements based on outcomes and feedback.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of firm, attorney, and client information.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to develop, test, and deliver technology-driven tools and initiatives, including client-facing solutions

  • Experience using generative AI tools beyond casual use (e.g., for research, extraction, summarization, analysis, or tool-building), with a skeptical, validation-focused approach to AI output.

  • Technical expertise around how AI systems are built and evaluated

  • Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of law firm experience in relevant practice groups.

  • Deep expertise in the workflows, priorities, and day-to-day needs of attorneys practicing in Insurance + Reinsurance Litigation, Insurance Transactional + Regulatory, Intellectual Property, and Privacy + Cyber practice groups.

  • Demonstrated experience in knowledge management, legal research, and practice support, including use of knowledge management tools and technologies such as databases, intranets, portals, search engines, and document management systems.

  • Proven experience with legal technology, project management, and business planning.

  • Proficiency in legal research databases and knowledge management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in related disciplines such as engineering beneficial.
