THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a WELDER (T32), Position Description Number D1215000 and is part of the AL CSMS 2, National Guard.
ORGANIZATION: AL CSMS 2, CULLMAN, AL
SELECTING OFFICIAL: CW4 J. SPEARS
Qualifications:MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military grade in the Alabama Army National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Alabama Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the basic knowledge of welding processes. Must have knowledge of technical orders, blueprints, and specifications.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment. Experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. Experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength, and other requirements. These welds may be in hard-to-reach places. Experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures. Experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE:
-- Knowledge of a variety of manual welding processes (e.g., several different gas torches, various electric arcs including inert gas-shielded arcs or a number of both kinds of processes) to weld all types of commonly used metals and alloys.
-- Knowledge of a wide range of manual welding processes to accomplish difficult welds. This includes welds in hard to reach places that must meet close tolerances, strength, and other requirements; gas welding torch processes that involve oxyacetylene, oxyhydrogen, and other industrial gases; and arc and inert gas shielded processes using methods such as metal-arc, gas tungsten-arc.
