TELUS Spark Science Centre (Spark),a registered educational charity, exists to entertain and inspire people of allages through creative encounters with science, engineering, technology, mathand art. Spark exists to lift people up with the power of curiosity throughcreative encounters with science!ย ย 

Calgary's science centre is apioneer in science entertainment and programming, with roots dating back to1967. Home to one of Western Canada's largest dome theatre, the DigitalImmersion Gallery, VR experiences, and innovative spaces like Steven's Lab, whereinteractive experiments unfold before your eyes. From the robot-dog Flint toCanada's first robot-coa5ter, R05iE, and a 15-acre park surrounding the scienceof the developing brain, Spark is a hub for creative encounters.ย 

Position Overviewย 

The Science Guide, GalleriesScience reports directly to the Gallery Science Supervisor. This role will be akey contributor to the guest experience at Spark. They are accountable fordelivering a world class level of customer service to guests. They activelydemonstrate creativity, collaboration, flexibility, and exceptional engagementin every aspect of their work at Spark. As a Science Guide you will start inthe daily operations home base where you will act as a science interpreter inthe galleries and exhibits with the goal of igniting curiosity in Spark'sguests through creative encounters with science.ย 

Key Responsibilities

ย  Act as a host for allguests with high energy and enthusiasm, connecting with guests through scienceinterpretation.ย 

Seek out guest interactions,creating special moments to enhance the guest experience at Spark.ย 

Deliver ground-breakingexperiences for assigned roles and programming in Spark's galleries, includingin Steven's Lab, BLUprint, visiting exhibits and the Creative KidsMuseum.ย 

Quantify the guest experiencethrough the collection of surveys.ย 

Keep up to date on Sparkprogramming, initiatives, membership offerings and promotions.

ย  Work collaboratively withother Spark teams to meet objectives, creatively solve issues, and anticipatechallenges.ย 

Ensure personal and teamactivities are aligned with business and strategic goals of Spark.ย 

Maintain a safe teaching andlearning environment for staff and our guests by following relevant Health andSafety policies.

ย  Model high performance,flexibility and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment.

ย  Other duties as requiredand assigned.

ย Qualifications &Knowledgeย 

Experience in one of thefollowing: interpretation, education, engagement, science, technology,engineering, math, art or working with the general public.ย ย 

Experience in sciencecommunicating, public speaking, and/or engaging with diverse audiences.

An enthusiasm for science,technology, and proven experience with being ambassadors for science.ย 

Experience in interpretation,tourism, science centres, or museums is an asset.ย 

Demonstrates a passion forcreating an amazing guest experience, going above and beyond to connect throughscience.ย 

Fluency in Microsoft Word, Exceland Teams and able to use most platforms.

A proven track record of addingvalue to an organization's culture and initiatives.

A positive attitude!ย 

Ability to work a flexibleschedule including evenings and weekends.ย 

Desire to work on a highperforming team with a continuous upgrading culture to achieve high impactresults. Fluidity and a desire to work hard and grow are essential.ย 

A high degree of creativity withthe ability to leave your ego at the door.ย 

Willingness to learn and adapt tochange.ย
