Northrop Grumman is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to support our Electronic Components Work Center (ECWC) for the Tactical Space Systems Division located in Sterling, VA

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creates, leads, and approves production plans.

  • Leads efforts to provide engineering review and documents intended processes to maintain schedule for one or more customer programs.

  • Leads non-conformance review and root cause determination.

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.

  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Directly interfaces with Technicians and supporting roles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing Engineer (T02) - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 2 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree (Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be accepted)

  • Principal Manufacturing Engineer (T03) - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree with 3 years of applicable experience (Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be accepted)

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD securityclearance

  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and equipment including some of these: soldering, mechanical assembly, epoxy dispensing and curing, conformal coating, thermal interface material dispense/application, Automated Optical Inspection, component/assembly test, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with circuit card installation, box closure, and rework

  • Experience with preventative maintenance

  • Experience with Costpoint, SAP, MES, Solumina, TIPQA, Windchill

  • Experience working in an ISO or AS9100 environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
