Job description

General Manager – Restoration & Construction Operations

**Location:** Houston, TX

**Employment Type:** Full-Time, W-2 (Contract to Hire)

**Work Environment:** Hybrid – Work From Home & Field

**Compensation:** 10% – 15% of Adjusted Gross Profit | No Cap

## About the Role

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to take full operational responsibility for a growing restoration and construction company in the Houston market.

The General Manager will have full authority and accountability for the business's day-to-day operations and will report directly to the owner. Everyone in the organization will ultimately report to the General Manager.

The company currently has an established mitigation division and plans to build three additional divisions:

* Reconstruction
* Packout
* Roofing

The successful candidate will be responsible for running and growing the existing mitigation operation while building the reconstruction, roofing, and packout divisions from the ground up.

Our Year 1 revenue target is $1.5 million, with profitability, team development, and operational efficiency as the primary priorities.

This is an opportunity for an experienced restoration professional but -to be realistic- it also comes with the need to commit to 10 to 12 hours daily and be on call until everyone and everything (systems/processes/policies/procedures and culture) is built and functioning at a high level to maintain a 5 star Google rating.

## What You'll Own

The General Manager will have broad authority and accountability across the organization, including:

Financial & Operational Performance

* Own overall company profitability and operational performance

* Develop and execute the plan to achieve the company's **$1.5M Year 1 revenue target**

* Monitor gross profit, job profitability, production costs, labor utilization, and operational expenses

* Establish and manage company KPIs

* Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective measures

* Develop systems, processes, and accountability throughout the organization

* Ensure jobs are properly scoped, estimated, produced, documented, and closed out

* Maintain strong quality-control and customer-service standards

Team Building & Leadership

* Recruit, interview, hire, train, manage, and terminate employees

* Build the organizational structure necessary to support growth

* Establish performance expectations and accountability

* Develop department leaders and future management personnel

* Build the reconstruction, roofing, and packout teams from the ground up

* Create a culture of ownership, accountability, urgency, and professionalism

Business Development & Revenue Growth

* Drive profitable revenue growth across all four divisions

* Develop referral relationships and strategic business relationships

* Identify new revenue opportunities

* Work closely with the business development function

* Ensure the company has the capacity and systems necessary to convert and successfully execute incoming opportunities

* Balance revenue growth with profitability—**we are not interested in buying revenue at the expense of profit**

Restoration & Construction Operations

* Oversee mitigation, reconstruction, roofing, and packout operations

* Manage production from initial loss through completion and collection

* Ensure proper documentation and file management

* Oversee estimating and job costing

* Maintain familiarity with insurance restoration processes and requirements

* Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and licensing requirements

* Work with subcontractors, vendors, property owners, adjusters, TPAs, and other stakeholders

* Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a seasoned restoration industry operator, not someone who has simply held a management title.

Required Experience & Qualifications

* 15+ years of total restoration/construction industry experience

* Significant leadership and management experience

* Proven experience managing a restoration operation or restoration-related business

* Proven ability to **generate revenue and drive profitability**

* Experience managing and tracking KPIs

* Experience building and managing a small team

* Demonstrated ability to **build departments and teams from the ground up**

* Strong understanding of water mitigation, mold, fire/smoke, reconstruction, and/or roofing operations

* Experience with **large-loss projects**

* Experience working with insurance carriers and/or TPAs

* Experience with **water, mold, and fire restoration**

* Mold remediation experience

* Strong working knowledge of **Xactimate**

* Substantial experience with restoration technology and workflow platforms such as **Encircle, Mitigate, MICA, CRM systems**, or comparable platforms

* Strong financial and operational understanding, including gross profit and job profitability

* Must be comfortable working in a highly autonomous environment

* Must have a reliable personal vehicle

* Must be willing to work in the Houston area and surrounding cities

Preferred Qualifications

* * IICRC certification

* Texas TDLR Mold Remediation Contractor (MRC) license or Texas Mold Remediation Worker license

* Xactimate certification or experience

The Type of Person Who Will Succeed

This position is designed for someone who can **build, lead, and operate**.

You should be someone who:

* Thinks like an owner without needing to be one

* Understands that **profitability matters more than vanity revenue**

* Can take a small team and build a high-performing organization

* Can create structure where there currently isn't much structure

* Is comfortable making decisions and being accountable for the results

* Can move between the office, field, customers, employees, and production without losing focus

* Understands restoration from the ground level—not just from a management dashboard

* Knows how to recruit good people and hold them accountable

* Can identify problems and solve them without waiting for the owner to provide the answer

* Is highly organized, metric-driven, and operationally disciplined

* Wants significant autonomy and responsibility

If you need someone to tell you what to do, this is not the position for you.

Compensation

This is a **commission-only W-2 position with no cap on earnings.**

The compensation structure begins at **10% of Adjusted Gross Profit** and increases to: 15% upon achievement of defined performance triggers.

Compensation Details

* Commission calculated on **Adjusted Gross Profit**

* Applies across **all four divisions**

* Commission paid **monthly based on money collected**

* No commission cap

* Significant upside as the company grows and profitability increases

The compensation model is intentionally structured so that the General Manager's financial success is directly tied to the company's **profitable growth**.

## Work Environment

* Houston, Texas and surrounding cities

* Hybrid work environment: work from home and field

* Overnight travel is not required

* Emergency situations may occasionally require availability

* We expect the General Manager to remain highly engaged with the business and its operations

## What We Provide

* Vehicle allowance and Gas card

* Company phone, Company laptop, Company Credit Card for business related expenses

* Significant decision-making authority, and the ability to build the systems, SOPs, culture, and operational standards.

* Uncapped commission structure on all 4 divisions

* Opportunity to materially increase earnings as the company grows
* As revenue stabilizes or when we hit defined milestone, we can talk about converting part of the commission into base salary
* No corporate politics, micromanagement, or other constraints that come with bigger organizations.

**Company vehicle and other Benefits are not currently offered but are planned as the company grows.**

## Why This Role Is Different

The existing mitigation operation gives you a foundation. The opportunity is to take that foundation and build a **multi-division restoration and construction operation** around it.

You will not be stepping into a fully built organization with established departments, layers of management, and mature systems. You will be expected to **build those things.**

If you have spent the last 15+ years in restoration and know how to produce profitable jobs, recruit and develop people, establish accountability, build departments, and turn operational chaos into a functioning business, this may be the opportunity you've been looking for.

If you're ready to take full ownership of the **operations, people, profitability, and growth** of a restoration company, we want to hear from you.

**Apply with your resume and a brief summary of the restoration operations you have managed, the size of the teams you've led, and the revenue/profitability you've been responsible for.**

Company Description

We are a fast-growing restoration company backed by a national brand, expanding across the Houston market. We combine the structure of an established system with the flexibility of a local operation.
