Position Overview
The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to lead the daily operations of the restaurant. This role is responsible for driving exceptional guest experiences, developing high performing teams, maintaining operational excellence, and achieving financial goals. The Assistant General Manager serves as the acting leader in the General Manager's absence and is expected to lead by example every day.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Support all daily restaurant operations to ensure exceptional execution and consistency.
- Lead shifts with a strong focus on food quality, hospitality, cleanliness, and speed of service.
- Assist with scheduling, inventory management, ordering, labor planning, and cost controls.
- Ensure company standards, systems, and operating procedures are consistently followed.
Guest Experience
- Create memorable guest experiences through visible floor leadership.
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
- Coach team members to deliver genuine hospitality and outstanding service.
Financial Performance
- Help achieve sales, labor, food cost, and profitability goals.
- Monitor daily operational results and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with inventory counts, purchasing, and waste reduction initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop hourly team members.
- Coach supervisors and shift leaders while building a strong leadership bench.
- Hold team members accountable to performance expectations and company standards.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and high accountability culture.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Hawaii labor laws, company policies, and wage and hour regulations.
- Maintain the highest food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensure a safe environment for both guests and employees.
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a full service or high volume restaurant.
- Strong leadership skills with a passion for coaching and developing others.
- Experience managing labor, inventory, scheduling, and daily restaurant operations.
- Basic understanding of financial reporting, labor management, and cost controls.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServSafe Certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
- Experience in a high volume, full service restaurant.
- Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
